A species of 'butterflies exist roughly a million years after the year 802,701. They are preyed upon by a race of Crab monsters. ("The Time Machine: An Invention")
It was theorized by The Time Traveler that these creatures were descended from the Eloi, while the Crabs might be descended from the Morlocks. ("The Time Ships")
When a group of Morlock time travelers exterminated the Eloi in the Domed Pavillion before returning to the far future, they saw that their actions had created a new history in which the butterflies no longer existed, or were at least not apparent. ("On the Surface")
