Morlock Wells

The Time Traveler enters one of the wells.

Morlock Wells are well-like structures which allow the Morlocks to climb in and out of their subterranean domain. Such wells dot the countryside in the year 802,701. ("The Time Machine")

In Timeline C, these wells exist, but for a different purpose. Since the sky is dark and the Morlock children may live on the planet's surface, the subterranean habitat mentioned above doesn't exist. Instead, the wells are ports to access the central heat of the planet, keeping the atmosphere warm despite the lack of natural sunlight. ("The Time Ships")
