This article is about the novel written by The Writer within the time machine universe. For the real-world novel of the same name (and presumably same content), see The Time Machine: An Invention.

The Time Machine was the title of a novel written by The Writer, and inspired by The Time Traveler's story. It was sold to aficionados of strange stories as of six years after The Time Traveler's departure. ("The Time Machine: A Sequel")

Restin Dane owned a copy in 1977, which was well-worn from many readings. However, it never occurred to him, until one of his companions pointed it out, that the Time Traveler from the novel was his real-world grandfather. (The Rook: "The Original Master of Time!")
